Billy and Lucy were only 12 years old, but they were sure they were in love.
Billy went to Lucy’s dad and said,
“Mr. Smith, Lucy and I want to get married.”
Her dad laughed and asked,
“Well, Billy, where would you live?”
Billy replied,
“In Lucy’s room — it’s bigger than mine, and we’ll both fit!”
Her dad smiled and said,
“And how will you pay for things? You’re too young for a job.”
Billy quickly answered,
“Between us, we get $13 a week in allowance. That’s more than $50 a month. We’ll be fine!”
Her dad chuckled and asked,
“But what will you do if you two disagree?”
Billy grinned and said,
“That’s easy — I’ll just let Lucy win!”
Her dad shook his head and said,
“Billy, you may be young… but you’re already a wise husband.”
