A wolf was walking through the forest when he saw a beaver.
“Come here,” said the wolf.
The beaver walked over, and the wolf, checking a list in his hand, said, “Ah, Mr. Beaver. Tomorrow at 8 a.m., you’ll come to the big field so I can eat you for breakfast. Any questions?”
“No,” said the beaver, and he walked away sadly.
The next day, after eating the beaver, the wolf saw an elk.
“Come here,” said the wolf.
The elk walked over, and the wolf said, “Ah, Mr. Elk. Tomorrow at 2 p.m., you’ll come to the big field so I can eat you for lunch. Any questions?”
“No,” said the elk, and he walked away quietly.
The next day, after eating the elk, the wolf spotted a rabbit.
“Ah, Mr. Rabbit. I’ve been looking for you. Tomorrow at 6 p.m., you’ll come to the big field so I can eat you for dinner,” said the wolf.
The rabbit replied, “No, I won’t come.”
“You won’t?” asked the wolf.
“No,” said the rabbit.
“Oh, okay,” said the wolf. “Then I’ll take you off the list.”
