A group of frogs was traveling through the woods when two of them fell into a deep pit.
The other frogs gathered around the edge and saw how deep it was. They told the two frogs there was no hope left for them.
The two frogs ignored the words and began jumping as hard as they could to escape.
Despite their efforts, the group above kept shouting that they should give up because they would never make it out.
Eventually, one frog listened to what the others were saying. He gave up and fell back.
The other frog kept jumping as hard as he could. The frogs above continued telling him to stop trying.
He jumped even harder and finally made it out of the pit.
When he reached the top, the other frogs asked if he had not heard them.
He explained that he was deaf and thought they had been encouraging him all along.
Moral of the story:
Words have a powerful effect. Choose them carefully, because they can either lift someone up or bring them down.
