A teacher was helping one of her kindergarten students.
Little Johnny was trying to put on his boots and asked for help. She could see why.
With her pulling and him pushing, the boots still would not go on easily.
By the time the second boot was on, she had worked up a sweat.
Then Little Johnny said the boots were on the wrong feet.
She looked and saw that he was right.
It was just as hard to take the boots off as it was to put them on.
They worked together to get them back on the right feet.
Then Little Johnny said the boots were not his.
She bit her tongue to keep from saying what she was thinking.
Once again she helped him take the boots off.
Then he explained that they were his brother’s boots and his mom had made him wear them.
She did not know whether to laugh or cry but helped him put the boots on again.
When they were finally on, she asked where his mittens were.
Little Johnny said he had stuffed them into the toes of his boots.
